Here's a photo of our house taken this weekend at around 9pm. I toyed with shutter speed starting at 30 seconds, but the lights were too blown out. I finally settled in around 5 seconds and while hand holding my flash, I manually popped it at 1/2 power while aiming it at the house. Not bad, but would like to see more side lighting, perhaps some up-lights to help envelope the house.
The orange cast on the driveway, yard, and vehicle is from a street light just to my left facing the house. Great night-light for security, bad for photography. Yes, I could probably tweak it in Photoshop, but the idea is to get it right, in the camera.
Shutter 5 seconds, f/5.6, ISO 100, manual focus to infinity.
Live and learn!

De Plane! De Plane!
Well, so much for every weekend!
This photo was taken from my phone, and not an iPhone either, so even though it's not from a DSLR, it's still a photo nonetheless. Had a blast with my daughter, her friend, my niece and nephew as we went to the airport to work on a short video my daughter is working on for a school project. We were hooked up with a pilot of a private plane who had it out on the tarmac waiting for us. The kids were thrilled and I think they'll remember it for a long time. I know I will!
As for the technicalities, yeah, it's not the best, but it was one of those, "Oh yeah, I should take a picture of this" moments, and the sun was in my eyes, and the wind was blowing, and...and...
This one was after the filming. A little better, but were already over our time within the plane, so a quick snapshot and off we went!

Hello World
Hello and welcome to my photography page!
I am in the process of changing a few things around with my current website and will eventually be moving it here, where I'm sure the site will grow and change. Hopefully my photography will continue to do the same. This past year has had many changes, both good and bad, but my photography has really hit a stand-still (read: I'm not taking any more pictures). I've seen some moments come and go, finding my self wishing, 'if I'd only had my camera'. Recently some things have occurred where I've actually felt like trying to pull out of my slump.
I've been recently encouraged to simply take more pictures and get back to what I enjoyed, so that's what I plan to do. As time goes on, my posts will become more frequent but for now, my goal is rather simple: Take more pictures and post once every weekend.
So until next weekend!
